Annotation

This study addresses the growing importance of developing adaptive competencies in children with disabilities, reflecting increased demands for their social adaptation and integration within contemporary educational spaces. The article provides an analytical review of Russian and international practices for developing these competencies, focusing particularly on children with mental development delay and visual impairments. The research employs systematic analysis of scientific studies concerning adaptive competency formation in preschool children with special educational needs. The article clarifies key concepts of adaptive competencies, analyses contemporary approaches to their development within inclusive education, and demonstrates the significance of psychological-pedagogical support in this process. It explores specific features of developing communicative, emotional- volitional, cognitive and personal characteristics as components of adaptive competencies in children with mental development delay and visual impairments. The study identifies promising research directions for developing adaptive competencies in children with disabilities, including designing comprehensive psychological-pedagogical support programmes and implementing innovative technologies.
