Annotation
The article is devoted to the topic of "special" childhood in modern children's literature. The author considers the image of a brother/sister of a character with special needs and its specific features using the examples from German-language books for children. The results of the initial study of parents' of 7—11 y. o. reading books about such childhood are also presented.
