Gender Identity of Primary Students in the Educational Conditions of the City and a Provincial Town

Annotation

The article presents a study of the gender identity of primary students in the Russian cities and province on the basis of a sextypical and egalitarian identity model. The general and specific characteristics of the content of the components of gender identity in the age from the second to fourth grades of primary school are shown. Despite the general trend towards egalitarian identity, the study demonstrates the different effects of the educational conditions of the city and a provincial town; it was revealed that provincial schoolchildren often show a sextypical model in all components of gender identity.
