Annotation
In this article the concept of the role and the history of the study of this concept in social psychology are considered. The author describes the empirical research that aims to clarify the relation between the behavioural and cognitive aspects of the role. For this purpose we use the a construct of metaphor, which is regarded as a unique product of the cognitive activity that has a great diagnostic potential for the analysis of the features of human thinking.
