Annotation

The article presents the results of an empirical study of families’ strategies for primary and basic general education (including outside the public education system). The authors of the article identify socio-demographic characteristics of the family; its economic status and costs of education; socio-pedagogical characteristics of the educational situation of families; parents’ values, attitudes and motives, determining the choice of a particular strategy in primary and basic general education (including outside the public education system). At the first, qualitative stage a series of expert interviews was conducted. The research sample consisted of five experts in the field of education. At the second, quantitative stage, verification of the findings of the qualitative stage of the study was carried out through a sociological survey. The research sample consisted of 10 081 parents from 12 administrative districts of Moscow. The research methods included comparative and comparative literature analysis; analysis, systematization and synthesis of the data obtained; comprehensive analysis, classification and structuring of information and statistical data; modeling method; sociological research (online survey), in-depth interviews; descriptive data analysis; generalization and interpretation of research results.
