DETECTING READINESS IN STUDENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Annotation

Theoretical knowledge and practical competencies of students are a priority in the struggle of universities for high ratings. This is of key importance in the study and formation of their readiness to accompany children with disabilities in an inclusive educational environment. However, the existing possibilities of organizing correctional care for children with tempo-rhythmic disorders in the educational space of the city are insufficiently developed. The development of private educational practice and the pursuit of individual forms of work with stuttering children is an alternative opportunity to provide professional assistance to children with stuttering. The purpose of the study was to identify and analyze the readiness of students — future speech therapists — for pedagogical support of children with tempo-rhythmic disorders in various types of institutions (special and inclusive), as well as to substantiate the concept of practice-oriented learning. The main methods were a questionnaire in the form of a Google form and its analysis. There were 50 questions in total, 45 of them included questions with one correct answer out of three suggested. The last 5 questions were for a free short answer, where it was necessary to express your point of view on the problem under discussion. The results of studying the question of the desire and opportunity to work with stuttering people of different ages showed that 76,3 % of students answer this question affirmatively, 16,6 % of students did not decide on the contingent, and 7,1 % gave a negative answer. Analyzing the students’ answer to the question about the age of stuttering, it can be noted that 69,1% of students choose preschool age, 21,4 % of students would like to work with younger schoolchildren and 9,5 % — with teenagers. An analysis of the answers to the study of the most interesting approaches to the correction of stuttering showed that 85,7 % of students were almost unanimous in their opinion about the priority of an integrated approach to the correction of stuttering of people of different ages, 9,5 % voted for the pedagogical approach and 4,8 % of students chose the psychotherapeutic approach. The question of students’ participation in scientific conferences showed that 78,6 % of students would like to participate in the work of scientific events of the Department of Speech Therapy not only as listeners, but also as speakers, 11,9 % of students gave a negative answer and 9,5 % replied that they could not answer accurately and abstained. To improve the quality of the formation of professional competencies of future speech therapists, it is necessary not only to acquaint them with the options for providing such assistance, but also to form an understanding of the “pluses” and “minuses” of the specifics of the work of a speech therapist in different types of institutions. The article proposes the concept of a comprehensive analysis of students’ priorities when accompanying children with tempo-rhythmic disorders and substantiates the effectiveness of a practice-oriented learning model.
