Annotation

The relevance of the study is substantiated by the objective need to improve scientific and methodological support of general education teachers. The revival of methodological service announced by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022 predetermines the study of the dynamics of the teachers’ needs within their professional activity. This study is aimed at the quest for potential of teachers’ methodological support through revitalization of the activities of representatives of methodological structures, as well as improvement of means, forms and methods of their interaction. The main research method is survey of teachers within the framework of the establishing experiment. The theoretical conclusions based on the scientific literature review were confirmed by the results of the survey of 128 teachers of general education. The article reveals the need to integrate the methodological structures of all levels into a single holistic system, to update the content and the organizational model of methodological work, as well as the scientific and methodological support of the educational process. It is proved that the objective need to improve the quality of general education predetermines the need to increase the competence of all educational stakeholders, including methodologists, whose underperformance in the field of didactics negatively affects the quality of work of educational organizations. The article also substantiates the need to upgrade the work status of full-time methodologists and consolidate their functions legally. The research findings clarify the functions of the methodologist, which must be aimed at close collaboration with other categories of pedagogical workers, playing an advanced role in digital didactics, as well as providing targeted support to teachers.
