Annotation

The contemporary socio-educational environment continues to transform significantly. The shift from special education toward inclusive practice shapes current educational trends. Modern pedagogy prepares young people by developing academic and practical competencies that underpin future professional development. This career preparation focus applies equally to neurotypical students and children with various developmental differences. Quality career self-determination upon completing school plays a crucial role in young people’s professional and personal development. Particular importance attaches to forming professional identity among individuals with limited starting opportunities, especially those with intellectual disabilities. This article presents research assessing current inclusive environments while examining career self-determination patterns among adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The study addresses challenges in career preparation for students with intellectual impairments in inclusive educational settings, investigates learners’ professional aspirations and career motivations, and analyses legal representatives’ expectations. The research identifies specific gaps in professional development among students with intellectual disabilities that have emerged within inclusive education frameworks.
