Abstract. Presented a study on the problem of student assessment the quality of higher education in the context of the requirements of the professional standard "Teacher". The relevance of the study is due to the desire of modern universities to manage the quality on the basis of taking into account the assessments of various stakeholders, among whom students, being direct participants in the learning process, can become a source of the most complete information about the quality of education. The study is aimed at analyzing the possibility of attracting students to the procedure for an independent assessment the quality of education and professional training. The research was carried out on the basis of competence-based and system-activity approaches using the survey method. The article examines the results of student assessment of teaching modules / disciplines, practices and independent work of students according to five criteria: organization, quality of content, effectiveness, satisfaction and professional motivation. Conclusions are formulated about the lack of objectivity of independent student assessment; insufficient degree of formation of students' ideas about the principles of organizing an activity-based problem-oriented learning process. An assumption is made about the low criticality of students in relation to the effectiveness of their educational activities and the insufficient level of formation of professional reflection of future teachers. The possibilities of including student assessment as one of the elements in the system of independent assessment of the quality of education at a university are discussed, subject to the conditions of complexity and diversity.
