Annotation

Now, the cooperation between museums and schools is perceived as a promising direction that can provide more effective achievement of educational results. Both in Russia and abroad, various projects are being implemented that contribute to the establishment of closer contacts between museums and schools. However, there are still, in fact, numerous problems in cooperation, which may be associated with a difference in understanding of the role of the museum and its functions. To establish these differences, a study was conducted aimed at identifying similarities and differences in the educational potential of museums in Moscow. The research method was a survey of representatives of three groups. The questionnaire material included both general questions and questions allowing to obtain comparable data. As a result of the study, gaps in ideas about the role of the museum in society, about the preferred forms of cooperation, and about the potential for the development of meta-subject competencies were revealed. Existing gaps can negatively affect the experience of attending museum classes, which may not meet the actual expectations of parents and teachers. However, there were also similarities in positions regarding the interest of schoolchildren in visiting exhibitions, the potential for achieving substantive results, and the most interesting types of museums. This signals a possible solution to problems and the availability of a real resource for the development of the educational potential of museum spaces. Based on the results of the study, practical recommendations were formulated on the formation of universal ideas about the role of the museum and filling in the existing deficiencies in the development of students’ meta-subject skills
