Annotation

In the article the study of the texts of literary works is correlated with the reception of modern readers of children’s and adolescent literature. The material for the study is based on the answers of the participants of the seminar on independence, the scenario of which is presented in the Methods. The part of the description of the study presents an analysis of the answers of respondents of different generations about their idea of independence based on personal experience and embodied in the images of literary heroes. They identify the ability to make a decision, willingness to take responsibility, and independence as key indicators of independence. Among the called heroes there are heroes of folk tales and literary works. There is often an interesting contradiction between the proposed criteria for independence and the patterns of behavior that have found their embodiment in the literature.
