Annotation
Cultural institutions, such as museums, theaters, exhibition halls, cultural centers, and public libraries, influence public and individual awareness, contributing to cultural
and educational development. Focused on libraries catering to children, the article examines the mechanisms of socio-cultural inclusion, exploring key connections and interrelations within this process. Building on theoretical insights and prior empirical evidence, the author develops a model of an inclusive socio-cultural space for children’s, youth, and general public libraries. The model consists of four major components: organizational structure, spatial arrangement, activity planning, and social interaction. Both the contents and interactions of these components are explained, along with schematic representations illustrating the model. Emphasizing the crucial role of library personnel in fostering inclusion, the author stresses the importance of their commitment to accepting core values and principles of inclusion. Effective socialization of children with physical and/or mental challenges relies heavily on the professional competence of librarians. Finally, the author concludes that the outlined model of inclusive socio-cultural space could serve as a guideline for various cultural institutions beyond just libraries, offering adaptable guidelines for enhancing their services toward greater inclusivity. Difficulties encountered in forming an inclusive socio-cultural space lead to suggestions for future research directions.
