Annotation

The article presents the results of the study aimed at the study of socio-psychological conditions of volunteering as a means of increasing social activity of students. On the basis of theoretical and methodological analysis of domestic and foreign literature, the authors have defined the criteria and indicators of social activity of students, as well as methods and techniques of research. The results of theoretical analysis formed the basis for the construction of the empirical research program. The experimental base of the research was made up of 120 students of Irkutsk Basic Medical College. At the ascertaining stage of the experiment the inert and reproductive levels of social activity in students were established. It has been proved that specially created socio-psychological conditions contribute to the increase of social activity of students. It is established that the indicators of effectiveness of the social activity increase at high productive level are such personal qualities as initiative in socially useful activity, ability to make independent decisions in the course of work, self-criticism, demandingness towards oneself and others.
